HOW TO MEASURE A LETTERBOX

HOW TO MEASURE A LETTERBOX

STEP 1 : DETERMINE THE TYPE OF LETTERBOX YOU HAVE

Examine your door to distinguish whether you have a panel or midrail fitted letterbox.

Midrail letterboxes fit through a thicker section of the door and therefore require an extended sleeve to join the two sections together. This section can be anywhere between 40mm and 80mm thick.

Panel letterboxes require a shorter sleeve as they accommodate a door thickness up to 40mm.

STEP 2 : REMOVE EXISTING LETTERBOX

Remove your existing letterbox from your door - please contact us if you require instructions on how to do so.

STEP 3 : MEASURE THE HOLE

Measure the width and height of the hole. You can also take the opportunity to measure the thickness of the door. Once you have determined the dimensions of your letterbox aperture, visit our website where you can filter our selection. Do bear in mind that you might find your dimensions do not exactly match available letterbox sizes. If this is the case, a Stanley knife can be used to expand the aperture as required.
